This week I was invited onto BBC Radio Suffolk to talk with Lesley Dolphin about my book.
It was a great chance to explain to her and all her listeners about how the book came to be written and how I became involved in the Suffolk Regiment.
We talked of the Old Comrades Association and the reputation of the Suffolk soldier. We also talked about some of the characters who feature in the book and how modest the Suffolk soldier was.
Lesley was also keen to know whether a second book was in progress and we discussed how I hoped to perhaps write a companion volume on the 2nd Battalion who fought in Burma in the Arakan, and later in northern India at Imphal.
The publishers had very kindly sent them a copy, which was the prize in the afternoon competition. Hopefully, the interview will have reached a much wider audience in the eastern region and now the story of 1/Suffolk is getting known to a much wider audience.
